Mornington Peninsula artist Narelle Callen creates original Australian coastal art, known for her atmospheric abstract landscapes and seascapes inspired by the colours, textures and light of the coastline.
I was very honoured to recently be featured in a magazine article highlighting my work as a Mornington Peninsula artist and my collection of atmospheric coastal abstract paintings inspired by the Australian landscape and coastline.
The article focused on my painting process, my inspiration from the beaches, gardens and landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula, and the way I build my paintings in layered colour and texture to create atmospheric abstract landscapes and seascapes. It also explored my background in design, architecture and interiors, and how this influences the way I create artwork for interior spaces and collectors.
It was a wonderful opportunity to share more about my studio practice, my inspiration, and the process behind my original coastal paintings. I am always inspired by the colours, light and atmosphere of the coast, and I aim to create paintings that bring a sense of calm, warmth and connection to the landscape into people’s homes.
I am very grateful to be included and featured alongside other creative artists and designers, and I look forward to continuing to develop new work inspired by the Mornington Peninsula and the Australian coastal landscape.
