Hello Art Lover
Whether you are an art collector or an art creator, this month’s blog/newsletter is all about “Colour”. Beautiful colour. Let’s take a look at the Colour of the Year and how it can be combined with partner colours to be used in the 2020 modern context.
2020 Pantone Colour of the Year.
Each year Pantone, that venerable purveyor of our colour knowledge, calibration and trends, announces a colour of the year.
This year, for 2020, they have looked high and low at world trends, politics, news trends, people, nature and all the things that they consider when they put their colour choices to the vote. And, if you haven’t already heard, they selected Classic Blue as their most desirable colour of the year. Perhaps an old and everyone’s favourite choice. The official number is Pantone 19-4052. And it looks like this (hoping your screen is calibrated correctly!). It is a slightly ultramarine and cerulean blue combination. A lovely velvety blue, with a bit of mystery, dependable and classic.
Classic Blue in Action
So with this lovely blue in mind, you have caught me creating a whole new collection of blue paintings. So far, I have created 5 new works on canvas, some small, some large. On top of that, I am having a lovely time working in these colourways using acrylic on paper. They include not only this lovely blue, but its partner colours in a few different colour ways including colours named “Honey” “Rhubarb” and “Mango”, from Pantone’s “Exotic” collection.
And you will also find a few that include “Jasmine Green” “Lime Punch” and “Coralesence”
New Work
New work, which hasn’t been advertised yet is now up on my website. I have posted a few snippets on Instagram – but have been saving the best of the information to tell you first. I’m very excited to present to you the following collection , which is being framed as I write this. These are acrylic on 300gsm fine art paper. The painted area measures 25 x 25 cm and framed they will be a finished size of 45 x 45 cm.

Upcoming Events
Unfortunately, like a lot of public gatherings, in the current uncertain COVID19 pandemic, upcoming artshows have been cancelled or postponed in the interest of public health and everyone's safety. Some of these events will have the capacity to go online, so stay tuned.
As always, I hope that my newsletter is interesting and informative. If there is anything you would like me to let you know about or include, please let me know. I love feedback and always read every email. If you know someone who might be interested in my art please feel free to send this newsletter on. Tell them about my website and they can join my mailing list.
